Rock and roll, Brian! What a great cause and even better reason to have a Guinness. I lived in Dublin for a while during college and even Irish Danced for 5 years (that's why my arms don't always swing when I walk), so I can't help but feel obliged to pledge my celebration of St. Patrick's Day.

Fat Alberta is an average imperial stout, at best. And they make a terrible IPA. That said, the rest of the line-up is very good. I enjoyed the maple porter and I think they're spiced plisner is about as good as it gets in the style.

Brian,
So glad that you enjoy the Portland Lager! Just a heads-up, in early to mid February Bull Jagger Brewing will introduce a limited batch of our No. 19 Baltic Porter - a big, bold, dark brew made for cold winter days. Thanks again for the mention and please come visit Tom and I at the brewery.

Brian,

Nice selection of beers. I've tried most of them, but I've never had anything from Switchback. I hope they make it to the ACBF in Boston this year. If so, they will be on my top propriety list.

I love the can explosion and Baxter is a major part of that in New England. Although they currently distribute in ME and MA only. I hope 2012 allows them to expand all across New England.

Also, although Chris isn't new to brewing, his approach to brewing is top "Notch" (parden the pun). As our adventures within the craft beer community evolve, I appreciate the fact that I can enjoy a top quality beer, without having to make a decision based on the ABV. Keep on rocking the session beers!

Thanks

Sean

Nice list of events, experiences and beers. Agree with you on the Oatmeal Pale Ale. That was a good one. Burnsides' Sweet Heat was rockin' too, though the chili pepper additions are never going to rise to a favorite for me. Absolutely love Hop in the Dark. Got about a case worth in the garage to survive the winter with.

Completely agreed on the Amesbury Ale House, a great spot and nice change from the Portsmouth scene. However, I completely disagree on Fat Alberta. Too thick and the peanut flavors just didn't work for me. I also didn't like how they tried to hype up a beer that had never been released before. And I think they need to have their IBU calculator checked. Fat Alberta had almost no hop flavor and their IPA is a malt bomb, despite the high IBU numbers for each. That said, I really enjoyed their other beers, particularly the jalapeno pils.

Good recap Brian! I had fun doing my "Year in Beer" last year, and will be putting one up next week. It's cool to see some favorite posts/beers/experiences from others though!

I definitely MUST get out to Portland for a long weekend (or longer) to take in all the beer out there.
